James Fannin

James Fannin born on January 1, 1804, north of Marion, Georgia. He entered the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1819, but withdrew in 1821. In 1834 he and his family moved to Texas and settled at Velasco, where he was a plantation owner. When he was captain of the Brazos Guards, he fought in the battle of Gonzales on October 2, 1835. on October 28, 1835 Fannin led the Texas forces in the battle of Concepción. Houston made Fannin a colonel in the regular army on December 7, 1835. On March 12, 1836 he sent most of his men to help Texans near Refugio. On March 14, he got Sam Houston's orders to retreat to Victoria, but decided to wait until some of his troops got back. He didn't leave until he learned of their capture. On March 19, he started to retreat, but it was to late. He and his men were surrounded and forced to surrendered. He and his men were executed on March 27, 1836.

William Barret Travis

William B. Travis was born on August 1, 1809. Travis arrived in Texas in early 1831 immigrating illeagally. He received land from Stephan F. Austin. After the Battle of Gozales Travis joined the Texas army. He gathered men and went to the Alamo where he and James Bowie fought over leadership until Bowie became ill. The Mexican army of Santa Anna was coming soon and the Alamo had very few men. Travis sent many messages for more men but he only recieved 36 men for a total of 183 men. On March 6, 1836 the mexicans overtook the Alamo within a few hours. Travis was one of the first to die from a quick bullet in the head. His body among the others who fought and died at the Alamo is buried under it.

Juan Nepomuceno Seguin

Juan N. Seguin was born in San Antonio on October 27, 1806.  He was the oldest of 2 brothers.  His father was Juan Jose Maria Erasmo Seguin and his mother was Maria Josefa Becerra.  He served in congress with Texas 1823-1824.  His Military role began in 1835.  He fought in the battle of Gonzales in the Texas Revolution against Mexico.  He also fought in the battle of San Jacinto in was known and was part of the only Tejano unit to fight in that battlle.  He gained higher roles in the Military after the Revolution.  After the Mexican War he returned to Texas and died on August 27, 1890.

George Childress

George Childress was born on January 8, 1804 in Nashville Tennessee. He graduated from Davidson Academy in 1826 as a lawyer. He married Margret Vance soon after. They had a son in 1835 and Margret died very soon after. Childress had taken an intrest in Texas and after he had raised some money in Tennessee he moved to help his uncle in Texas. After moving to Texas he was elected chairmen of writing the Texas Decleration of Independance along with five other men.On October 6, 1841 he cut himself in the stomach with a bowie knife and died soon after. He is best remembered for being the primary author of the Texas Decleration.

Lorenzo de Zavalla

Lorenzo de Zavalla was born on October 3, 1788 in Tecoh Yucatan. He graduated from Tridentine Seminary of San Ildefonso in Mérida in 1807. He was a strong supporter of democratic goverment and was imprisoned  in 1814 in Veracruz. While he was imprisoned he read many books so he learned medical things as well as how to speak english. After living in Yucatan he moved to mexico and was a deputy for Cortes. When Cortes died in 1822 Lorenzo became a governer of mexico. The centralist party took over the goverment and being a strong federalist he went into exile in 1830. He left to New York and started trying to get a grant to settle land. On March 12, 1829 Lorenzo was authorized to settle 500 familys in southeastern Texas. On July 1835 Lorenzo went to Texas and within a few weeks he was sucked into Texas politics. He became a supporter of the Texas Revolution and was later part of the Consultation and the Constitution Convention of 1836. He was elected ad intrim vice-president of Texas. Zavalla and his family then fled to Galveston island to avoid Santa Anna's men. After the Texans had won he moved back to his home where he developed pneumonia and died on November 15, 1836.
