Santa Anna

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was born on February 21, 1794.  Santa Anna lead the Mexico Revolution for independence against Spain.  He became president of Mexico in 1833.  He was one of the most original leaders of Mexico.  He was president of Mexico 40 years.  (1833-1873).  In the Texas Revolution, his army won against the Texans in the Battle of the Alamo.  He surrendered at the Battle of San Jacinto then became less and less powerful.  In 1845 he was apprehended by Indians and was spared but was sent to exile in Cuba.  He died on June 22, 1876.
